| While
Guam is best known for its watersports, diving and golf they
are far from the only sports activities or attractions to be
enjoyed on the island.
Sports Fishing, is a very popular pastime for both visitors
and residents alike. The deepest water in the world, the Marianas
Trench, is just east of Guam and the waters around Guam are
hundreds of fathoms deep. A world record Blue Marlin, and
still one of the world's largest at 1,173lbs, was caught just
off Tumon in 1969 and large Marlin can still be caught all
year round. Guam's surrounding waters offer an abundance of
off shore gamefish including mahi mahi, wahoo and several
species of tuna. Guam has a modern fleet of sports
fishing boats available for half and full day charter.
Many visitors take a break from Guam's blue waters and enjoy
exploring Guam's rugged hinterland, waterfalls, rivers and
jungles. A number of tour companies offer hiking
tours and there are regular local 'Boonie
Stomps' and organised mountain
bike sorties every weekend that visitors are welcome to
join. Horse riding treks into Guam's wilderness areas are
also available at the Southern Comfort Corral.
For those who really want their holidays to take off Skydive
Guam offer the thrill of a lifetime - and the video to
go with it - for those who dare. The Sling
Shot, said to be the world's most extreme amusement ride,
offers the next best thing and also comes with the video to
prove you actually did it. Both light aircraft and helicopter
introductory flying lessons are available from Micronesian
Aviation Systems and Americopters
at reasonable prices.
There is a proliferation of shooting galleries in and around
the Tumon area catering to visitors with a strong "Rambo'
instinct. Visitors can try their skill with a number of deadly
weapons ranging from .357 magnums and colt 45's to Uzzis and
M-16's in the safety of these purpose built indoor ranges.

adrenaline rush.
Grand Prix Guam

a tight race track in Tamuning.

is the Sandcastles and Pleasure Island complex in Tumon. All
of the above and more is offered in virtual reality and video
